Project Description

New Bedford Port Authority contracted D.W. White Construction to complete construction of CAD Cell, construction of the North Terminal bulkhead, capping of the Lower Harbor CAD Cell (LHCC), and dredging to deepen the new North Terminal berth.  The new North Terminal bulkhead was to be built on a section of water that had soft silt and sand sediments which were contaminated with PCBs by years of manufacturing disposal in New Bedford Harbor.  The sediments within the footprint of the cellular cofferdam had to be dredged and disposed in the LHCC prior to construction of the bulkhead.

This project also included a pile supported precast and cast in place concrete deck as well as water, electric infrastructure for future ship to shore power, site lighting, and stormwater drainage utilities
