The Lawrence Airport improvements project consisted of reconstructing 5,000 ft of Runway 5-23
including intersecting pavements and the construction of runway end safety areas.The runway was shifted approximately 100 feet towards the Runway 5 end. Pavement reconstruction on this project consisted of reclaiming bituminous concrete pavement, installation of subbase and base course materials, placement of ne bituminous concrete surface course, pavement grooving and pavement markings.The other site work on the project included the relocation of an intermittent stream, construction of wetland mitigation sites, excavation and embankment, installation of a slope stabilization system, topsoil and seeding, and modifications to runway and taxiway edge lighting.
